1. High school graduation or GED equivalent and 1 year experience in a clinical or laboratory environment required.

Security This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code §51.215, which authorizes UT Southwestern to obtain criminal history record information.

Job Duties 1. Performs lower level procedures in a clinical laboratory relieving technologists/technicians of routine duties and responsibilities.

2. Processes laboratory samples according to procedure and if applicable, enters manual billing in a timely manner. Accurately enters laboratory test orders and lab test results for cerification by technologists and monitors incoming reports and status of lab testing.

3. Assists in other areas of laboratory as needed, which may include performing phlebotomoy, greeting patients, entering data of patient demographics and lab order instructions, entering appropriate codes and prices for patient requisitions, and labeling and processing patient specimens accurately and distributing to appropriate areas of laboratory.

4. Keeps area stocked with essential supplies.

5. Keeps work area decontaminated with proper cleaning solutions an disposal of wastes and trash in appropriate containers.

6. Monitors incoming reports and status of laboratory tests.

7. Monitors pneumatic tube system (if applicable) and ensures when tubes arrive, that specimens and/or reports are removed.

8. Participates in process improvement activities

9. Performs other duties as assigned.
