Experience & Education Required (any one of the following):

1. High school diploma or equivalent and one (1) year of pharmacy or equivalent technician experience is required. **Registered with Texas State Boad of Pharmacy (TSBP) and national certification with Pharmacy Tech Certification Board (PTCB) is recommendded**

 Job Duties 1. Performs job responsibilities in accordance with organizational and departmental policies, procedures, performance improvement objectives and environmental and infection control standards.

2. Fills all orders, floor stock and cart fill replenishment lists. Delivers all medications on time.

3. Performs IV calculations and prepares all IV admixtures using proper aseptic technique. Handles all intravenous chemotherapy. Performs extemporaneous compounding. Repackages bulk medications into unit dose per departmental policy and procedure.

4. Provides prompt and courteous service. Receives incoming calls and prioritizes based on urgency or nature of requests.

5. Audits and signs out all controlled substances in accordance with state and federal guidelines and organizational policies. Identifies and corrects discrepancies and reports unusual usage patterns and trends.

6. Enters charges, processes credits and restocks returns.

7. Completes monthly house wide unit inspections of medication storage areas.

8. Orders, manages and monitors drug inventory in fiscally responsible manner and is cognizant of appropriate PAR levels in medication storage areas.

9. Enhances personal growth and development. Participates in educational programs, in-services and meetings. Participates in new employee orientation and training.

10. Treats co-workers and organizational and departmental property and resources with respect. Maintains clean orderly and stocked work environment.

11. Works and problem solves with minimal supervision.

12. Performs other duties as assigned.

 Comments Minimum Requirements: English (speaking, reading, writing). Good genera l health and stress coping ability. Moderate physical effort: prolonged standing/walking, occasional lifting/carrying (up to 25 lbs), reaching, bending, crouching, etc. OSHA Category III Minimum Years of Experience 1 year Special Skills or Education: High school diploma or equivalent, Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) registration. Primary Responsibil ities: Pyxis management; assisting pharmacists; medication distribution processes; answering telephones and assisting nurses, providing excelle nt customer service, etc.
