Experience & Education Required (any one of the following):

1. Graduate of NLN approved Nursing program and three (3) years experience as Registered Nurse is required. **Current Texas (or BNE Compact State) license and BCLS is required.**_A current Basic Life Support (BLS)certification, course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA).  

2. -RN for at least 4: Med/Surg/Tele or ICU background; Ambulatory care is a plus, but not required - Supervisory exp for a least 1 year preferred: Charge nurse, clinical coordinator, etc.

 Job Duties 1. Provides direct patient care. Performs procedures and tasks specific to unit's patient population. Serves as role model to other staff when providing direct patient care. Assists with care of patients in infusion services as needed.

2. Supervises and evaluates provision of patient care by other personnel assigned to unit. Makes daily patient rounds. Does random chart audits. Utilizes opportunities to teach and mentor other nursing personnel.

3. Manages staff to meet established productivity targets. Reviews staffing and nursing assignments and revises to meet specific needs of patient on shift by shift basis. Coordinates staffing with Central Staffing Office and House Supervisor. Makes ongoing changes to staffing.

4. Demonstrates problem solving abilities and participates in identification and resolution of physician, patient and or family complaints. Reports complaints and intervention to Clinical Nurse Manager. Reports unresolved or escalating situations to Nurse Manager. Follows up on staff issues and ensures feedback to staff members. Engages in problem solving with other departments to meet needs of patient population served.

5. Demonstrates flexibility and willingness to provide coverage during off shift when staffing crisis and shortage occurs.

6. Provides immediate coaching and counseling of nursing personnel and follows up with accurate reports to Clinical Nurse Manager.

7. Generates or supervises generation of event reports during assigned duty hours. Investigates facts as able. Facilitates timely receipt of these reports and follows-up by Clinical Nurse Manager. Notifies Nurse Manager and Risk Manager immediately of high risk situations.

8. Participates in routine and special patient care conferences. Promotes professional growth of nursing personnel by providing opportunities for active participation in unit based activities, patient care and unit decisions, or hospital committees.

9. Provides input and conducts annual performance reviews and orientation evaluation of nursing personnel assigned to unit. Assists with scheduling and daily edits in staffing system. Completes payroll editing.

10. Assumes delegated responsibility for inventory control of equipment and supplies to ensure safe and effective patient care. Facilitates timely return of specialty equipment.

11. Assists with staff meeting, special projects and in development, implementation and evaluation of performance improvement activities. Participates on hospital work groups as requested.

12. Very strong computer skills. Data mgt skills (organized) Performs other duties as requested.
