Experience & Education Required (any one of the following):

1. Associate's degree in nursing, two (2) years clinical nursing experience, licensure as Registered Nurse by Board of Nurse Examiners for State of Texas and a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) are required.

 Job Duties 1. Recruits patients for research studies; acts as patient advocate, explains study purposes, and obtains informed consent.

2. Follows study protocols in scheduling of tests and procedures; administers experimental and non-experimental medications.

3. Collects, labels, and stores blood, urine, and other specimens for analysis. Collects, correlates, and files patients' records and laboratory data for analysis; counsels patients with respect to medical conditions and action needed, including diet and needed therapy.

4. Assists in or carries out nursing treatments ordered on research study patients.

5. Monitors and evaluates patients involved in research studies, including patient response to therapy.

6. Advises physician on current patient condition, including possible side effects of therapy.

7. Collects and analyzes various charts and data on inpatients and outpatients currently participating in research studies for submission to physician and/or for reporting to granting agencies.

8. Prepares internal and external reports for physicians, research study coordinators, and/or granting agencies; creates and develops source documentation.

9. Responds to internal and/or external auditor requests.

10. Develops and carries out teaching plan relative to protocol.

11. Attends occasional out-of-town professional meetings.

12. May provide working supervision to nursing staff and/or other non-licensed medical or office support personnel. Performs other duties as assigned.

 Comments PSYCH EXPERIENCE A MUST. Research experience a Plus.
