Experience & Education Required (any one of the following):

1. DVM or VMD degree from an Accredited Veterinarian Medical Association school, completion of a 2-3 year postdoctoral training program in laboratory animal medicine, 3-5 years of related veterinary experience, license to practice veterinary medicine in the United States.
2. American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (ACLAM) diplomat.

Skills And Abilities

Security This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code §51.215, which authorizes UT Southwestern to obtain criminal history record information.

Job Duties 1. Provides medical and surgical care for research animals.

2. Coordinates health assessments of incoming non-commercial research animals.

3. Assists in Institutional Animal Care and Research Advisory Committee protocol reviews.

4. Represents the Animal Resources Center Director concerning animal health issues in the event of his/her absence.

5. Communicates with researach staff and faculty regarding animal health and welfare.

6. Coordinates quarantine and health maintenance of animal colonies.

7. Performs other duties as assigned.
