| Experience & Education Required
(any one of the following): |
1. Bachelors Degree in Theology, Ministry, Psychology or related
field and one (1) year in healthcare ministry setting with four (4)
units CPE. **Ecclesial endorsement required**; Or
2. Bachelors Degree and one unit Clinical Pastoral Education.

| Job Duties |
1. Responds for emergencies, traumas, deaths, code blues, end-of-life
decisions, ethical conflicts, crisis, disasters, organ and tissue
donation and procurement within 30 minutes of request.
2. Assesses patient needs for spiritual support and provides necessary
services and interventions. Assists with family conflicts and
personal relationships for patients, guests and staff. Demon-
strates understanding of family systems theory.
3. Coordinates pre-surgery and surgery support to patients and guests,
and provides routine patient visitation.
4. Maintains accurate documentation in patient charts, department
logs, and hospital reporting systems. Communicates between depart-
ment staff to ensure continuous service of patient needs.
5. Attends and participates in department staff meetings.
6. Provides spiritual support resources appropriate to developmental,
emotional and psychological needs of patients, guests, and staff.
Accommodates requests for spiritual and religious literature.
7. Administers to sacramental needs of patients, guests, and staff.
Facilitates contacting patient's own clergy. Provides worship
opportunities for patients, guests, and staff.
8. Serves as advocate and educational resource spiritual and ethical
concerns for patients, guests, and staff. Consults on Advance
Directives, Durable Power of Attorney for Healthcare, and Uniform
Donor Card.
9. Participates in on-going professional development including super-
vision, spiritual direction, continuing education and retreats.
Maintains ecclesial endorsement and denominational participation.
10. Provides consultation service to staff on specific patient needs.
Provides referral to outside resources for additional support and
counseling in collaboration with social work, nursing, and/or other
members of health care team.
11. Provides education to staff on utilization of Pastoral Care,
ethics, Advance Directives, and other needs as requested. Provides
communmity education as requested. Networks with area religious
congregations. Assists with training of new intern, supplemental,
and volunteer chaplains.
12. Performs other related duties assigned or requested.
