Experience & Education Required (any one of the following):

1. Bachelors Degree and three to five (3-5) years accounting experience is required. Preferred: CPA, Masters degree in Accounting or Finance and five (5) years accounting and supervisory experience in healthcare.

Security This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code §51.215, which authorizes UT Southwestern to obtain criminal history record information.

Job Duties 1. Develops and maintains established departmental policies, procedures and objectives. Evaluates day-to-day activities. Provides required training and direction to employees.

2. Coordinates Accounts Payable functions. Ensures controlled workflow within Accounts Payable.

3. Ensures bills are paid appropriately and within terms.

4. Works with Directors to resolve issues related to invoice submissions.

5. Works with vendors to ensure timely payment of invoices.

6. Coordinates monthly closing process and produces financial statements and various other reports. Ensures journal entries are completed with appropriate documentation.

7. Prepares for and assists in year end financial status.

8. Assists in preparation of Medicare cost report and Medicare audits.

9. Reviews balance sheet accounts on regular basis to ensure accurate statement of assets and liabilities.

10. Ensures accuracy and appropriateness of accounting policies and practices. Maintains CPA License by obtaining appropriate CPE.

11. Works with independent auditors to understand current state of accounting as it relates to hospitals' financial statements.

12. Performs other duties as assigned.
