Experience & Education Required (any one of the following):

1. High school graduation supplemented by successful completion of vocational training in computer programming and seven (7) years computer operation and programming experience, including at least one (1) year as Software Systems Specialist II or equivalent.

Security This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code §51.215, which authorizes UT Southwestern to obtain criminal history record information.
 Job Duties 1. Analyzes existing and projected operating systems and procedures, including studies of interaction of several software systems to ascertain feasibility and performance.

2. Coordinates implementation of software systems and evaluates and modifies existing components of computer operating system.

3. Participates in studies of projected enhancements in hardware and software and in development of recommendations to management based upon results of such studies.

4. Advises software systems specialists of lower grade with respect to determination of, and possible solutions to, work problems.

5. Attends computer conferences and seminars.

6. Presents technical briefings as required.

7. Performs other duties as assigned.

 Comments Performs routine and complex preventive maintenance, testing, and repair with respect to the MS-SQL databases, operating systems and Solaris UNIX systems. Develops and maintains database systems for clinical, admin, and research users. Diagnoses and repairs routine and complex computer- related problems. Installs software, personal computers, printers, and other peripherals. Prepares recommendations for modifications or additions to personal computer systems, hardware components and software applications; researches costs, market options, and trends available to meet user needs; keeps abreast of new and modified hardware and software. Troubleshoots routine technical problems and supports Radiating Oncology help desk as required. Writes code using Visual Basic Visual C#, or C++.
